Re: best bet for shore fishing?

Whidbey is a good bet, but as of today it's still very quiet. Still kicking myself for the one I lost at the bank this AM.
All my reports are nothing in numbers. Few here and there. Go to Ted's there in Lynnwood and get the skinny.

I'm fishing area 6, around the the north/west corner of 8-1 if you can figure it out.
Zero coho...I caught my first one 12 July last year. Totally dead.... Hoping it's going to be a mid-augaust

Re: Where to go fishing this weekend?

I've been visiting west beach Deception Pass the last few days for coho, sockeye or kings.
So far nothing. Caught my first silver there last year around the 12th of July.

I only know about west side of Whidbey Island. Many places to catch salmon from shore.

Re: 45 Pound Skagit Chinook on a Twitchin Jig

You may want to get your mug in a mag with this fish, Danny.
That being said, WTF! You go way up the Skagit for humpy eggs and hook this beast.
Neighbor has been catching/releasing large(20#-35#) native and hatchery kings in MA 7 for about a month.

Nice as usual, Danny. Would have been nice to see a video on this one.
Oh, and I love the word 'behemoth' in a report.

This is what I do now, too. Used to bonk, but watched a video on the through the brain technique. I forget the Japanese term for it.

Re: The Anti-Pink Thread

Well, I may have to reflect on the being negative to pink years. I've been fishing almost daily for 3 weeks. After tonight I have caught 15 pinks and a silver from bank in salt. For the most part very mellow fishing, catching close to one a day close to my home. Three nights ago I was pretty much al...

Re: Fall Salmon 2013

Glad you are having a good time and appreciating it, Danny. In my area we are slogging it out with lowly pinks and silvers from the salt beaches. Having a blast . Fighting a 5lb pink or silver sans flasher or 4oz banana weight from the bank against a current, and trying to land it on light gear is d...

Re: Fall Salmon 2013

I got a nice silver Sat. at Deception, so the there are probably a few in Skagit already. I've caught 7 pinks there, too. This has been my first experience eating pinks out of salt and have read both pos and neg opinions. Have smoked 4 and they are great smokers!! The rest are salmon patties that ta...

Re: Pinks from the beach

Also if there is anything to look for when trying to find a good location on the beach or even a small tip to prevent loosing as many lures of rocks and such. You can look for locals fishing and see what they are doing. You can look for no thick kelp beds. You can look for no rocks. You can use lig...

Re: Pinks from the beach

I've found that if you use lighter lures that sink slow at dawn, you get a higher hookup rate. I think it's because when the sun in low in the sky, the humpies are generally in the top 20 ft of water, the higher the sun gets, the deeper the fish go, and the heavier the lure you should use, so a smal...
