Re: STOLEN: 4HP YAMAHA AND SCOTTY 1101'S
My guess is that these were out of towner cretins. The local ones know better after an incident a few years back word gets around the Cretin table pretty clearly on where to avoid. So they brought their own cutters, and were either new to the area or really dumb.

Well we do know it was a pro, they brought their own hefty bolt cutter, and it was a 7/17 inch hardened lock, beefy.

STOLEN: 4HP YAMAHA AND SCOTTY 1101'S
Well Tuesday into Wednesday, it appears that someone took a bolt cutters to my outboard lock and downrigger locks. Didn't notice it til we hit the water, as we were pulling out of Redondo, I turned to look back and gone, no outboard no downriggers. Missing: 1997 4hp Yamaha outboard 2 Scotty 1101 dow...

Re: Charging Trolling Motor Battery While Camping
I picked up a little Harbor Freight 1200watt, 2 stroke. I got the newer red model, as the older blue didn't get good reviews. So far this little genny has been great. Very quiet. I mean they all make a ruckus, but comparativly this one is quieter then most I have been around. I think it was $89 on s...

Maguires PlasX is the BOMB cleaner polish for windows.
So with the 4th around the corner I dug out the canopy for the early morning chill that was expected. And the windows were well solid grime. So I washed them, and then took the boat to the detailer to see what he would charge. To cloudy, they will need replacing. Reading on here I noticed mention of...

Re: Crabbing & Shrimping, Keeping those lines straight!!!
Embarrassing as it is to admit we use the hand wrap ones for everything, chrismas lights included. Now the framed one is available at Mal Wart stores for 8.88, and IT WILL fit 400' of poly rope wiith a loop on both ends. I wouldn't be tossing it around carelessly as it is plastic, but it will fit al...

Crabbing & Shrimping, Keeping those lines straight!!!
Just a quick note on a product I have been utilizing for the last several years. Electrical cord storage spools. Available at Lowes. The Inexpensive at $6-7 ea, and make line storage SO MUCH EASIER!!! In Fact the way we usually do it is to start at the buoy end, and wrap. Then when you deploy the tr...

Re: WANTED: Stuff for my boat
Craigslist has been really consistently with 1085 downriggers lately. Reasonably priced 12-015lbs balls seem to be non existent at least around here, although I have gotten 4 10lbs balls for an average of $8ea again craigslist.

Salmon Setups for Beginners Sub $100 setup.
So I recently attended a local fishing seminar, and I spent, WAY to much on a Rod and Reel for Salmon Fishing, $99 on the Reel and $280 on the custom 9'6" Rod. Very excited. Til I thought of how many beginners were at the seminar, and how Almost $400 for a rod and reel was a bit excessive. And knowi...

Preppin Spoons,
Granted I'm the newbie, but on Youtube I saw an excellent clip on modifying your Salmon spoons, with a split ring and swivel to cut down on them being able to leverage the hook loose by rolling. Clip the welded ring, on the spoon, ( I was doing King fishers and Coho killers) Add a #4 split ring (I u...

G.Pucci Roller Swivels - Weight Tested
Well this year I got into the G.Pucci roller Swivels. Mostly because of the price Point, but also because of their smaller then barrel swivel size. They are Made in China... (surprise!) Long story short I bought all three sizes to test. 10, 7, 5. Size 10 Rated at 30lbs Size 7 Rated at 45 lbs Size 5 ...

Re: Well that was an expensive weekend...
Pretty Close to the setup I put on this year, 2 1085 scotty's, 10 and 12lbs balls. First Scotty was LN for $100, the other was New in box from the 90's for $60. and 2 1025 mounts at $48ea. All 4 balls totalled about $40. My other expense was Scottying out the boat with pole holders, and fender locks...

This Year's Boat Plan
Well we will have three aboard. So one down rigger down on each side pulling a Hotspot Flasher, and a King Fisher spoon or what ever is working. Now here's my debate. I am planning the third line to be positioned aft , it'll be a 9.5ft rod with a Double deep six on it pulling a 4 or 8" flasher or do...

Re: STOLEN CRAB!!
I "HEARD" of this solution. Off of Langley pots were being picked, and a gentleman stayed out, watching off the point. When the thieves came he rushed in with a 22 loaded with construction blanks, firing away. Last issue they had the rest of the season as the thieves went rushing back to the reservat...

Re: Boating/Fishing Armed...
There is also a funny story from being armed aboard from a couple of years ago. We snagged a crab pot, but got it shut down quick enough to wrap but not tangle bad, the prop. I than had to hang off the back with the 90hp honda raised, and unloop it. Got it down to the last two loops and just couldn'...
