Re: Priest Lake Idaho / Flathead Lake Montana guides / camping recommendations
Wow - I missed the boat on that one didn't I! Sorry I was looking for next spring. I ended up booking with Blue Ribbon Charters and we have a campsite at the Outlet at Priest Lake on the west side. I think I was a little behind in booking a spot. Not much left so I grabbed what I could. I wanted to ...

Priest Lake Idaho / Flathead Lake Montana guides / camping recommendations
Looking for some info (guide recommendations and camping spots - truck camper that takes up 25' total) on Priest Lake, ID or Flathead Lake, MT. Leaning more toward Priest Lake to save a couple hours drive time from Vancouver, WA but if someone says Flathead is worth the extra 2-2.5 hrs I'll give it ...

Re: Columbia River Fishing (Part 2 of 5)
Watched all three of these last night. Very nicely done. Jealous of your videoing ability. I do more of a set it and forgot with my go pro on the boat. I get some footage but it's pretty boring coming from one angle for 4 hours!

Re: Do used car lots have lower prices outside of Seattle?
Not for sure it's relative but I would think it would be --- when I purchased my boat 7 years ago we drove to Pasco, WA to save $3,000. I'm in Vancouver and closest dealers were Portland area although I did call up to dealers in the Seattle area as well. I even tried to have local dealers meet me in...

Yup what amx said. Except I keep forgetting to do the golf tee trick. Apparently I prefer stuffing sticks up there to get them out every year!

Re: Windy Wind Windy Wind Windy Wind Windy Wind
The two drift socks off the bow has worked well for me in the past but as others have said I don't last too long past the giving it a try. Mainly my hope is the wind dies down. I normally just bag it if the wind gets to the point I need all that junk. The "I'm enjoying myself" factor quickly decline...

Re: Silver lake or other SW WA lakes
Not sure about bank fishing access. I know the canals back by Streeters Resort are usually a favorite for crappie pursuits. Crappie jigs under a bobber is normally my go to. I have no information on the other lakes. Hope you do well - I'm starting to get the itch to get back out there soon too

Cathlamet September 9th
So with the closing of the coho season in the Strait of Juan de Fuca that cancelled our normal trip up there in September. I came up with a back up plan of camping / fishing out of Cathlamet on the same dates (September 9 thru 11). I had the time off from work and decided to keep it. Never fished Ca...

Re: Lake Merwin Kokanee
Hmmm. Well I don't claim to know it all and I could be mistaken. I've only been fishing Merwin since 2007 and last year (it could have been 2 years ago) was the first time I recall being able to keep 10 fish. Prior to that I'm pretty confident it was only a 5 fish limit because I remember debating i...

Re: Lake Merwin Kokanee
I'm with ya! I was not happy with the decision to move the limit in this lake to 10. My fear was it would really degrade the fishing. One year is a little early for me to blame it all on the limit change but it certainly does not look favorable at this point. I hope I'm wrong and the fishing turns a...

Re: Rock Creek/Rock Cove
I fished Rock Cove a few times in the past (4-5 years ago) from a sit on top kayak. I targeted bass at the time. It's pretty shallow from what I remember. I did fairly well pitching tube jigs to the wood and rock structure. I would think there are bullheads in there but never caught any. I highly do...

Re: Any Sekiu Reports?
Mason-Olson Resort facebook page seems to get a regular amount of fish pics. Maybe a call up to them would be worthwhile. Although a fishing report from where you launch and purchase bait / lodging from I've found can get a little misleading.

Re: Columbia River camping?
Yup pretty big swath of water to explore for sure. I've found google maps is your friend. Pick an area you think you want to try. "Fly" by mouse up and down the shoreline and it's pretty easy to pick out the campgrounds, launches, marinas, etc. Some have a name right on them others you just google t...

Re: do you trailer with canvas up or down
I've only had the storage garage for mine for a year. Before that I stored it in the driveway like you and pulled the top off completely every trip and covered with a top gun material cover. It worked very well. One tip that will help relieve some of the pain in the butt putting it back up - Hang a ...

Re: do you trailer with canvas up or down
I have the same rig. I played the game of towing with top down and than putting it back up at the ramp. I tow with the top up for local trips. When I head up to Sekiu (6 hour) drive I drop the top down to reduce wear and tear. There is no doubt it causes more wear on the fabric but nothing lasts for...

Re: Sturgeon 2015
They will sometimes open a season in the upper Columbia River (Hood River area) in the winter and summer. Pretty limited season obviously. The winter one is a little dicey and not for the faint of heart. It gets a little chilly in the Gorge during that winter season. Ice on the launch ramp is not fu...

Re: La Push?
I fish out of Sekiu twice a year and have looked at La Push as an option. By looked I mean google maps and internet searches. Never actually driven out there. Not much information that I could find out there. Maybe it is the secret hole??? I recall reading several comments out there about issues wit...
