RE:WL.com "Not Quite Trophy But Still Nice Bass Pictures" Gallery 2009

Nice fish, bhuynh! Those are some beautiful colors on that smallmouth. I bet he was a tasty one! It is amazing to me that people kill smallmouth and eat them. There are warnings about the heavy metals in those fish. Maybe people who eat them are already suffering from brain damage, from eating them...

RE:Skip Casting

[quote="Gringo Pescador"]Thanks all! Took all your advice, practiced for awhile in the back yard sitting on a milk crate and aiming for the bottom of the shed door (neighbors think I'm nuts). Then some more today on the lake. Improved by leaps and bounds already! =d>] I did the same thing when I w...

RE:new at bass fishing

Well, Howard- I don't claim to be a pro bass fisherman or anything. But, I have an idea on how to fish. Now, Biskt1sngrav is right, a boat or float tube is a "must" in my opinion. The more access you have, the more you increase your chances of landing fish"! But, if you are fishing from shore for B...

RE:Long Lake/Lake Spokane

Its all about timing and patience. There is no secret to the fish, you just have to work really hard to catch them. Ive seen 3 separate boats throw 15+ casts at my dock, all working to pluck a single largie out that was sitting there the whole time. Patience and perseverance will produce results. S...

RE:Bass nearby? New to bass fishing, need some starters

Thank you for the kind words, David. The big fish on the picture on the left was very close to the 10 pound mark. The best 5 from that afternoon went right around 36 pounds. Here is a picture of a couple 11+ lb. fish from Whatcom County. What a showoff. Those fish are obviously photoshopped and add...

New website WaFish.com

Since The Supreme Overlord has decided that we are not allowed to post links to WaFish anymore you guys will need to go there on your own to find out what the local pro bass fishermen have to say.

The depth of talent and wealth of information found at WaFish is amazing.

Do your homework and buy the right boat for you and your family. There are lots of good boats out there and one GREAT one, TRITON baby.

RE:Washingtonbasspro.com - Sponsor's Message

Just sharing info man. I almost bought a Ranger but after doing some research and talking to several former Ranger owners who now have Tritons I decided to get the Triton. I run the Rangers down and pass them like they are standing still. If anyone wants to wager bring your wallet and your Ranger do...

RE:Washingtonbasspro.com - Sponsor's Message

Rangers are OK but you get WAY MORE BOAT for your money with Triton. They are faster, have a better (and dryer) ride, fish better and are safer.
I have ridden in all of them and would never buy anything but a Triton. And I am not a pro-staffer so I don't get paid for my opinion

Forget about the otters. Cormorants eat their body weight in fish every day and there are thousand and thousands of them.

RE:Frogs!

When I was a kid we used to sight fish for bullfrogs. We'd look for them lounging around weed mats and cast a big red and white bobber with a treble hook under it into the weeds. All you had to do was hook the weeds and just wiggle the bobbler. Those bullfrogs would pounce on it and inhale the whole...

RE:morning bite

I prefer morning fishing but not before it gets light out. On sunny days the fish will seek cover or deeper water once the sun comes up. Try fishing docks, shade, or deeper structure if it is sunny out. If it is cloudy or windy you will find the fish are easier to catch all day long. I hope that ans...

RE:Bass and Tiger Musky

I have used spinnerbaits on Tapps successfully for both species and never had a Tiger Muskie break off. I don't think you need to fool around with a steel leader if you use a blade.

RE:???????drop shotting????????

Drop shotting is extremely effective for bass. Both my smallmouth over 5lbs this year were on a dropshot. 1. Casting vs. vertical: Both work. I prefer to cast it and slowly drag it back to the boat. Some of my friends like to cast it and lightly shake it back. Others like to drop it down and shake i...

I tried them as a trailer on a chatterbait but didn't catch anything. I got the idea from Brett Hite who won a couple of FLW events with this combo. He used a green pumpkin chatterbait with a green pumpkin swimsenko as the trailer. Looks nice in the water.

If you are fishing around weeds try ticking a lipless crankbait over the tops of them.
