Honestly... I think some lakes just like a good live nightcrawler. When nothing else works I use a worm and bobber and just adjust my leader.

Baitcaster reel vs. spinning reel... pole?
I am wanting to get a baitcaster reel and I was wondering if there was any difference in the pole. Does the reel go on top? I bought a Berkeley lightning rod before doing any research on baitcasting reels. I noticed that on the lightning rod it looks like the handle is upside down, as if the reel wa...

Mosquito, Jorgenson, Canyon Lake?
Has anyone ever fished or know anything about Jorgenson lake or Mosquito lake in whatcom county? They are along HWY 542 off of Mosquito lake RD. I went up to silver lake today by Black mountain and on my way back went to both of these lakes. There is no public access, but after hiking in passed many...

Oven Jerky
I read 'Rollin with Rolland' thread about smoking trout. I was inspired to try it out since beef jerky is really expensive and you don't get very much. Since I don't have a smoker I thought I would try using my kitchen oven. Sounded a little odd, but after doing some research and asking around I fou...

Bellingham, Whatcom Falls
This is not an alpine lake. But if you ever visit bellingham, this is a great place to go right in the middle of the city. Whatcom Falls Park. Pictures of Whatcom Falls, Whatcom Creek and the hike. About three to four miles of trails. http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u193/reeder_rabbits/whatcomfal...

...tenth printing as of year 1967, first copywrited 1963. It's from Outdoor Life and called Complete book of Fresh Water Fishing by P. Allen Parsons, Foreword by Ray Bergman. It's obviously old school and they do a lot of talking about worrying about rods and line breaking which is awesome... I hav...

RE:Chair upgrade for the dinghy!
This is too funny. I always give my grandpa a hard time cause he whines about the plastic boat seat so much. Then one trip he got so irritated with me that he basically mooned me in the middle of the lake! Butt pimples are no joke! i went out and bought him a new seat the same trip. I can't stop lau...

RE:Mildred Lakes - Question
Sorry, I have not fished these lakes. But what I do when I am planning a trip to a lake I know nothing about is to call the local park ranger for that area. It has been very helpful in the past. They are usually fisherman themselves and can give good advice on the fishing. Also, they can give you a ...

It is quite possible i have mistaken this lake with another. I would not put it passed me. I actually didn't know there were other lakes in the area, well... I did, but not so close. But as far as I know it is still a quality little lake and a really cool looking one too. good luck.

The greyhound idea is really good. I think I might do that.
And I will definitely bring my rod, I don't really hike to hike. I hike to fish.
I haven't stopped into REI yet but I will definitely do that. A
Any other ideas/resources are appreciated.
Thanks guys.

Ya I do read a lot, kinda sad. I know. But my roomates are really annoying so I stay in my room alot. Actually their girlfriends are really anoying. So when not fishing or working, I play xbox, tie flies, and read. And it isn't really skimboarding season yet. And at my job, I have alot of downtime, ...

RE:Fishing books list
"Wild at Heart" and "A River Runs Through It" were very good. I just finished reading them and recommend them to anyone. "Wild at Heart" was a bit religious but I think would be good to read for non-christians as well. It has interesting insight on the society we live in today and how the "idea" of ...

PCT HWY 2 - HWY 20
I am planning a hike from hwy 2 - hwy 20 on the pacific crest trail. I was wondering if anyone has ever done this hike or may have any information on it. I am looking for things like water stops and resupply locations. Maybe good places to camp and where the starting locations on this stretch of the...

RE:Mad Lake
I fished it last year and it was pretty good. But I believe that it was stocked with cutts. Didn't catch any of those, but what that means is the rainbows will more than likely die out. The cutts will eat the rainbows eggs during spawning. Happens to several alpine lakes, but the cutts are more resi...
