Rooscooter..... I fly fish the lakes around Colville to Spokane. Drop me a PM! I am a hard core FFisherman............ mostly chironomids (go figure). I have been known to drag a fly once in a while, but usually on a new lake to locate active fish and once the rivers clear up I can be caught chillin...

Im not sure, but it may have been injured during its early development. When you filleted it did you find any abnormalities in the spine? Young trout can be very resilient and often recover from injury without any immidiate visible injury. I have found trout that heve been injured in the wild that h...

RE:What kind of fish is this ???
There is no way to determine a sub species (Blackwater, Kamloops, Gerrard etc,, etc) of trout by visual indicators. The only way to confirm thier genetics is by DNA sampling. Based on stocking records it could be either a Kamloops or a Gerrard. Its a hell of a nice big spawner male by any measure. I...

I prefer carpet on the floor. Its easy on the feet, knees and fly line. The roll or sprayon products are hell on a fly line. You dont haveta worry about blood on the carpet when your C&R. Just my 2 cents worth.

RE:Subtle Differences
Keep a lake/river journal as Mark hinted. In some instances I have found that fish will key on size more than color. Although that seems to be water depth dependant, due to light refraction with increase in depth. Other times the lil buggers will be so focused on a specific color you cant change the...

I fish the same as Brain Chan with Chironny's (go figure). I find a hydrographic map of the lake will pin point some of the shoal areas, flats and shallows. These shoals warm sooner in the spring and the inverts get active. Trout que on these invert active sites and the adjacent areas. Pre dusk I wi...

As far as I am aware of, there is no hatchery for white sturgeon in Wa. state. There is a hatchery for Columbia river White Sturgeon in Cranbrook BC (as well as one for the geneticaly different Kootenay fish). These fish have been released cooperativley with BCFW & USFW for 10-15yrs in Canada. Natur...

Aaron I fish Roosevelt lots in the spring/summer. The majority of my angling is in the Kettle Falls /Colville flats areas. I have found that bottom bouncing has produced the most fish (for me) and allows me to cover lots of ground. If you find fish that are stacked up on a flat you can get some nice...

I went to Colville on tuesday this week and there was two boats fishing just upstream of the bridge (north) at Kettle falls. When driving down to Colville, I go past Kamloops Island and the Kettle river at that point is froze solid. The confluence of the Kettle river and Lake roosevlet is open, alth...

Has anyone beenout on the ice or to the park? I used to be able to get aholdof the state park dude and he kept the snow plowed at the park. I have tried to call him several times with no answer. Its a bit of a drive if theres not enough ice. The Trout fishing used be very good through the ice. Is th...
