Both Mattoon and Frio Rito have bass populations largely consisting of dink bass. I personally like Mattoon more for bass (fishing from the shore). I've seen/heard of 5+ pound bass coming out of Mattoon. I can also vouch that Frio Rito would be better for pan fish. However, the small bass at Mattoon...

Knuppenburg is about a mile west of the summit. It is right next to the highway. No campground, it is only about a 1 acre pond, but looks can be deceiving. I havent fished it this year. There are two forest service campgrounds there. Plenty of shore access on the dam side of the lake, which is where the campgrounds are. Try Mattoon or Friorito. Mattoon has a lot of easy bass, and Friorito has tons of ok 6-7 inch sunfish.
