Re: New Boat/Motor thoughts.

I was on the same track as you in my younger days. In my teens, I started with a 12' Valco powered by a 9.9 hp Johnson. It was a good boat but got small quick when we put 3 people in it. Owning it for 10+ years, I decided it was time for an upgrade. At 26 years old (11 years ago now), I fell into a ...

Re: 2-stroke motors, huh??

Getting back to the 2 stroke question... For me, 2 strokes have their place as cheap, reliable, predictable and simple engines.....if well kept. My 16' Lund is pushed by a 1997 15hp Suzuki with oil injection. The engine keeps the boat on plain at 20mph and doesn't use much fuel. The oil injection is...

Re: Ethanol Free Fuel

Thanks for the info. I'll keep that in mind when I head up north fishing. I have been fueling up at the little gas market on Broadway in Everett that has ethanol free fuel. Anyone else use this gas station? Haven't used that place but the Co Op in Snohomish has E-free fuel as well. I'm thinking thi...

Re: ISO: Starboard

I never even thought about Tap. They've been around forever. Let us know what you get. Yep, still running the old Lund...11 years now! My oldest is 8 and really getting into fishing. We've done some minor adjustments to the boat (changed rod holder locations, slid the bimini top more forward, etc.) ...

Re: ISO: Starboard

Starboard is also known as high-density polyethylene plastic or HDPE Marine Board.

Locally, you can order it at onlinemetals.com and pick it up at their shop in Seattle.

It looks like they sell it in 1/2", 3/4" and 1".

Re: Eagle Claw Featherlight Kokanee/Casting rods are here!

........ but doesnt fit in my rod holders very well. Overall great combined choice though! I noticed that too. They actually really suck for fitting the Scotty baitcaster/spinning rod holders. I ended up modifying (notching) two of my holders for the Black Max's. They now fit like a glove. Just got...

Re: Eagle Claw Featherlight Kokanee/Casting rods are here!

Thanks for the feedback to my post a few days ago. I ended up straying away from the Eagle Claw rods. After doing much shopping and research at Sportsman's Warehouse, Ted's in Lynnwood and John's in Everett, I pulled the trigger on a pair of Abu Garcia Black Max reels mounted to Daiwa Spinmatic 7'6"...

Re: Eagle Claw Featherlight Kokanee/Casting rods are here!

Just to kick this thread back up, I recently went salmon fishing out of Astoria and now my kids are interested in fishing for kokes and trout on Lake Stevens (eventually Baker). That being said, I like the Eagle Claw 7'6" but am looking for a reel. Any thoughts on the Okuma New Magda Linecounter Ree...

Re: My New Boat!...mods coming soon

...There was a guy on here about 4 years ago who did his on Mods with a very similar Lund, 14'? It was almost the same boat as mine...You have to see this guy's mods, they were the best I've ever seen on a boat like this. His casting deck in the upper portion of the bow, lifted up for storage, etc....

RE:Jameson Lake Resort Pics. Anyone?

We use to catch 20+ inchers …Now Jameson sounds like the average planted lake you would find on the west side. Bummer Don’t discount Jameson quite yet. My buddies and I head over there every May for our annual fishing trip. The last two years, at least 2 out of the 5 of us have caught 18+ inch hold...

RE:Camano Island Boat Launches and fees

Dave, I’m sorry that what I stated came out the way it did. I too respect law enforcement and have some very close friends that are deputies and police officers. They do a tough job that gets much less respect than it deserves. Although that driver was in the wrong for not wearing his seatbelt, I st...

RE:WHAT SMALL BOAT SHOULD I BUY???

I agree with the last couple of posts. A Livingston or Sorenson would be good. Another idea is buy a cheap v-hull that is 10’ or 12’. You wouldn’t need much but could run just electric on it if you wanted. If you have a small outboard, you got it made. I’d stay away from the inflatable boats especia...

RE:Jack Plate

A jack plate or motor riser would be perfect for that application. I have a 16’ Lund that had the same thing when I bought it. The motor was a longshaft on a 15” transom. For my application, I had an aluminum riser built. I determined the motor needed to come up 6” total for the cavitation plate to ...

RE:Getting new plates :(

The reflector issue is interesting since you can still use a 1963 plate issued on a 1963 car. How are those exempt? I understand the licensing the trailer, boat, fisherman, blah, blah, blah, but how many vehicles do you see with bad reflectorization? I think not just trailers but cars too it's exces...

I know it’s an open ended question but here are my thoughts: Every time I see a boat, I make a mental note of the things I like, and don’t like, about it. Since buying my boat in 2007, I try to modify it with the “likes” I’ve seen. Being a 16’ aluminum, I’ve installed 5 rod holders, 2 permanent seat...

I figured my first trout this year cost $93.00 in licensing the boat, trailer, freshwater fishing license, launch fee, and 3 gallons of gas.

It's amazing the amount we pay to pursue our hobbies!

RE:Washington boaters education card

So let’s change things up a bit and ask this question differently. Even if you weren't required by the state of WA (and pay the card fee), who has taken a boaters safety course?

If so why?

And if not, why not?
