First - Monday morning around 4:45am, the youngest boy and myself arrived at the turn off to the launch, and their sat a pick up, with boat attached and hood up. Turns out, this guy spent the night in his rig because wh...

RE:Fish upstream or downstream?
I would cast upstream and drift downstream if fly fishing. QUESTION: when fish rest don't they face semi-upstream/upstream ? (Not being a smart-alek, just a logical question I think) SO - If your fly is drifting downstream - towards them & facing them - then they would target in on it easier & longe...

RE:lake topo maps
have you tried the link in the tool bar above ?
It is under FEATURES / TOPOGRAPHIC MAPS
I know that they are not the best in detail, but they have always given me a good, general idea of what I needed to know.

RE:Tackle Notes: Right-Hand or Left-Hand Reel?
When it comes to Spin vs. Baitcast reels. I cast Right, retrieve Right. HOWEVER - I do wish that the reel manufacturers would be more inclined to put more Left handed reels into the the stores like they do with Spincast reels - where Left handed retrieves seem to be the standard (of course the retri...

RE:Tips & Tricks...
For Baitcast Reels... We all know that our baitcast reels operate with a ball bearing system. BUT - did you know that when you cast, if you turn your rod so that the retrieve handles are at the top while you cast that the bearing system is used more effectively and this will allow for more distance,...

RE:Boating tabs?
Best Solution - get the Tabs, for the size of your boat, tabs are cheap - myself I paid $ 25.25 for the tabs, and I have an 18' w/ 90hp. I think I would rather pay the inexpensive tab costs, be covered wherever you go without having to worry if you are in a place where you may need them or not - bet...

Local Fishing Show Production - Looking for Anglers/Guides
I know there are a lot of guys who may have the time and knowledge, maybe even perhaps the interest in using this time to be able "Educate" others in many different ways. I ran accross this ad on Craigslist of a guy named Sean Kennedy who is trying to produce a local television fishing show. See his...

RE:Tips & Tricks...
For Baitcasting. Something I learned from someone who used to tour in Bass Tourny's. In order to combat the dreaded BACKLASH when using baitcast reels. 1) Put your back to the wind. 2) Cast out a Spin Bait / Buzz Bait as far as possible, the wind will help carry the extra distance. 3) Using Scotch T...

I like this site as it is for everyone to learn from others, especially for new anglers, and for those looking to learn how to target other species than they usually go for. Unfortunately I have found over the years that most sites tend to share very little and if they actually do (and don't charge ...

RE:Rod Storage Ideas
What about taking PVC piping and cutting it in half lengthwise, then into short sections (say 4-6" long). You can then secure them to the inside of the boat lengthwise, following the curvature of the boat, by using some type of expoxy / liquid metal, or something that is condusive with both aluminum...

RE:What should be in my boat?
'Google' BOATER SAFETY EQUIPMENT - Don't forget about the Water Ski'er Down FLAG - (depending on size of boat & HP of your motor) you may never use it but I believe it MUST be on board, it is a solid orange flag (hand held) along with your REGISTRATION (as DrewP mentioned ). If you have an electrica...

RE:Spokane River
Hi there JayS. As for the question of what gear to use... I have caught several using spinner set ups (Brown Rooster Tails, etc.) - as for Fly's - I have also seen quite a few Fly Guys along that section of the river. Never fished like that myself there - but just went there because it was very clos...

River Report Count not working properly...
I went to view the River Reports from the Home Page. The Tab set up for river reports lists a Spokane River Report.
Went to Reports/Read Reports/River Reports - typed in Spokane and the Report Count shows (0) zero, even though there is a report in that section.

RE:Washingtonlakes.com fishing tourney?
hey! i would go for some sort of contest but you would need to include the shore fisherpersons. they have contests that use pictures of your catch in the midwest, they ran biggest fish of the week, month and year, all species. use to enter them years ago. biggest fish won fishing, camping, gear wort...

Waitts Lake...
Hi to all. I have never been to Waitts Lake, want to head out there this coming weekend. Can anyone tell me the best location to launch from (trailored boat) and perhaps roads / directions. I Google Earth'd the Lake and I think I have an idea of where the public launch is - but just want to verify. ...

RE:Diamond lake
Been to Diamond a couple of times - no dock at the launch, sort of rocky, what we did was launch the boat, then pulled the boat up on the shore to the LEFT of the launch (looking out on the lake from the road) - a bit sandier there. We fished at the South end ( to the left of the launch) down by the...

RE:FISHING WITH CORN AS BAIT
HI, I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MORE THAN ONE FISHERMAN THAT FISHING WITH CORN IS ILLEGAL DUE TO THE FACT THAT FISH CAN NOT DIGEST IT AND ALL THE FISH THAT EAT IT WILL DIE. NOW I AM A BIG FAN OF FISHING WITH CORN FOR MY FAVORITE FISH (KOKANEE) BUT I WOULD BE VERY QUICK TO STOP IF THIS IS THE TRUTH. I ALSO ...

bigastrout; Like yourself, I go back and forth with this issue at times, but in areas with Channel Markers and Right-of-Way concerns, I see people that don't understand them and are a safety hazaerd to everyone else on the water - and as for the Jetskier's, there are rules/regulations about "how clo...
