Re: crawfish spots in north snohomish
I can't say I've been in any place up by Arlington, but the places I've been down in S. Snohomish county sell that same trap (or better) for $10-12. Outdoor Emporium in Seattle has it for like $8.

Re: Snohomish County/Lynnwood........... small park w/duck p
I caught both small bass and a very small trout in there on a bobber and worm last year. I caught another small trout in Scriber on the same setup. Plastics might be worth considering for C&R purposes since there's no reason to keep anything out of these small, poluted bodies of water.

Re: Lk Wa Sockeye
Ah yes, the Lake Washington Sockeye fishery brings out anglers out of every nook and cranny in the northwest. Traffic on 520 slows down as motorists can't believe that some of those boats actually float. That said, one of my first fishing memories is going out with my dad in a tiny fiberglass boat t...

Re: Scuttlebutt about Martha Lake (Alderwood Manor)
Racfish, ignoring the fact that we already got our answer on what's happening, I can't find any Seattle Times article relating to a sewer leak in Martha Lake. There was a leak into North Creek, which runs a mile or so east of Martha Lake, in April. North Creek does not run into the lake. I would als...

Re: Scuttlebutt about Martha Lake (Alderwood Manor)
I got permission to post the full information that Bruce sent me. Danny also emailed me and let me know that due to equipment issues they would be electrofishing this Monday as well. Props to both these gentlemen for quick, honest information. For whatever reason, DFW generally gets a bad rap among ...

Re: Scuttlebutt about Martha Lake (Alderwood Manor)
The Program Manager for Freshwater Fisheries just emailed me back. I've asked him permission to post the full text of his email, but the gist of it is that it is indeed a standardized fish survey. The fish are caught using several standardized methods included nets and electro-fishing and all fish a...

Re: Scuttlebutt about Martha Lake (Alderwood Manor)
An even more broad question would be, do you know for sure that they were physically removing all the fish they shocked from the scene? The lake surveys I've read include both netting and electro-shocking, but I believe the fish are released afterwards.

Re: Scuttlebutt about Martha Lake (Alderwood Manor)
Well, that's disappointing. I was hoping to get up there for bass in the next week, but if they're yanking fish out it might not be worth it. There could be a simple explanation like they're doing a fish survey of the lake or doing shock boat training (it is only a mile away from the Mill Creek WDFW...

Re: WA Fish Quest Episode 4: Channel Catfish
If that stretchy thread is the same stuff I'm thinking of pretty much every decent tackle shop should carry it, at least on the west side of the mountains. It's very popular with Steelhead guys for tying their egg sacks, I believe.

Re: WA Fish Quest Episode 4: Channel Catfish
Nice fish. I was hoping to get over to the eastside to catch my first Catfish this summer, but I don't think it's going to happen. At least I got to live it vicariously.

Re: 25,000 Channel Catfish Planted in Western Washington Lak
Just to follow up on why they chose these lakes, you'd have to ask the WDFW to be sure, but I believe they chose mostly lakes that don't connect to any other bodies of water. I believe I read somewhere that they can't spawn in temperatures as low as these lakes maintain all year. If they stocked the...

Re: Port Susan Sturgeon
Here is the emergency rule change, which is still up on the WDFW website and still specifies GAME fish: https://fortress.wa.gov/dfw/erules/efishrules/erule.jsp?id=1130" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Here is the text of the email I received from them when I asked for confirmation that...

Re: Port Susan Sturgeon
It took me a long time to figure out what you're talk about, but it looks like you're right. As of this year's rule book, page 17: Sturgeon - Freshwater Rivers: Catch-and-release only during open game fish or SALMON seasons. Retention allowed only June 1 through June 30 and Sept. 1 through Oct. 15. ...

Re: Port Susan Sturgeon
Unless something new has come down the pipe that I can't find on the WDFW website, the Snohomish is open for food fish, which includes Sturgeon. The emergency rule imposed in January only effects game fish. It is extremely confusing, but I emailed WDFW earlier this year for clarity and got confirmat...

Re: Trout Plants 2012
Boy are the regulars going to be torked over at Ballinger... couldn't buy a hit today. And only 2,000? again I hope they put more in that lake because that number won't last long. Yep, I had the same experience from the dock at sunrise on Saturday. Perhaps we were fishing together. Glad to see they...

Re: Juanita Creek
Yea, that sucks. I guess your closest bet would be the Sammamish slough/river. It's been pretty high when I've driven over it recently and probably muddy. Selective gear rules (crimp your barbs) as well. Sadly, western Washington is pretty bare as far I'm aware (I'm far from an expert) for good fly ...

Re: Juanita Creek
Are you under 15? If not, then I think you're out of luck. As G-Man mentioned, all the creeks in the area that are open, are open to only juvenile anglers. I assume it's because they can't support much fishing pressure.

Re: Juanita Creek
The bottom of all the river pages say "Puget Sound and Strait Rivers not listed in this section are closed to fishing" which would lead me to believe that it falls into the category. I would email them and ask to be certain since no matter what anyone here says, they're the ones who write the tickets.

Re: Anybody fishing Sammamish this weekend?
Be aware that everyone I've heard from has reported catching a lot of Kokanee, which cannot be kept on Sammamish, for every Cutthroat they get. It's gotten to the point where some folks have stopped fishing completely because Kokanee don't have a very high survival rate after release and they've bee...

You can look at it two ways. The first is the way you see it, which is he is ducking out of a commitment. The second, however, is that rather than collecting a paycheck to be a congressman while he's actually spending most of his time campaigning in Washington or on flights back and forth from DC, h...
