RE:WL.COM Westport outing?
Michael, You can count me in for Ilwaco for Halibut. Isn't that the opener? My buddy here would go too so add two. Sam, I just want to catch some Kings so a sound trip would be great too, Do you know the name of some charter folks? It would save us all a lot of driving and $. From Spokane you make i...

RE:Amber Lake Opener
Last year there was ice about 20 feet off of the launch with open water up to the right for several hundred yards. Several people in tubes were hammering them though. All this snow is a great big PITA, but the lake level will be up for months making launching my boat at Amber a piece of cake. It was...

Fish don't buy or tie flies fisherman do! The Blue fly looks awedome Marc. The proportions are nice. It is crazy how many little fish have hit big flies or lures for me and how many bruisers have hit tiny flies. The pictures from the Pike site were crazy with a monster grabbing on to another hooked ...

I use tapered leaders and have tippets that I tie on as well. In streams I use 1-3 Lb test. If you are new to fly fishing. You want to pay attention to how much leader you lose when tying on new flys. I use a blood not to tie on new tippet. What do you use Marc?

WL.COM Westport outing?
Hey Kids, I saw a fishing show last week while working in seattle about some group of internet friends who went fishing on a party boat in Mississippi, on the Gulf Coast, and thought it would be cool to get a group of us to all go out on a party boat in Westport this summer for Salmon. What do you t...

That is horrible to watch but a grim reality. I do feel Native Americans deserve the treaties they signed, but gill netting need to be outlawed for everyone. The daily devestaion to the whole eco system must stop. For being at the top of the food chain us humans are pretty dumb.

Daniel, It gets crazy over here you can walk across the lake on the boats at the seasonal put and take lakes like West Medical and Fishtrap. That is why I like the selective gear lakes like Mnedical and Amber. Far less pressure. Bigger Fish too! Michael, The Potholes sounds like a great idea. How ma...

Where will you go on opening day?
It is never to early to start planning for the spring opener. I will either go to Medical or Amber here in Eastern Washington. I will also take my kids to the Medical Lake Fisherman's Breakfast for the 4th year in a row at the Firehouse. I used to go to North Silver and fish at midnight and then go ...

Deep Blue, Welcome back to WA. You are on the Columbia River there. Great for smallies and steelhead above Mcnary in the spring and fall. Moses lake has the potholes and lenore. Spokane has 90 laKes within a hundred miles. It is about 2 hours from there. Mcnary is a flippin hot place to catch steelh...

Hillbilly, that is a nice looking jig. In black and marron or purple it would work well for steelhead. You should join our March swap.

Mark,
Got my flies today. Good stuff Maynard. I can't wait to try them and to gift my buddy with the extra set for tying two. Did my prepaid envelope cover the expense? You are obviously generous with your time, but lets keep your money in your pocket.
Thanks much.

This turned into a job for you. Thanks for your efforts. We should pay for a permit and see who catches the biggest or most fish with our flies. What is next...dry flies, salmon/steelhead flies, bass flies, tiger muskie flies?... Jim:cheers:

Wow Marc a nine weight Orvis. That is awesome. Seems pretty perfect for Pike according to the article You read. I have an old eight weight fiberglass Heddon that I am going to use at Silver it has backbone and is totally limber with a fish on. Definitely got to have a WL.com Pike Party. Have you fou...

I have a counter on my steelhead rig and it is nice to know how far out you are whwn you get into them, and it does matter wheter it is a diving plug or not. Boat speed really makes the most difference--slowe is lower. I also troll with lead line too which is 10 yards per color with a 20 foot leader...

I was at Rocky Ford in October and we did okay, five in about two hours. I use a brass bead head nymph with a forked white tail that is #16 or smaller. We will have to fish Medical Marc. The bows in there are bruisers again. When they planted Browns in ther in the early nineties to eat the bass and ...

I have never met a fish that was left or right wing. I believe that everyone on this site wants to be able to enjoy our resources and to have them here for our children and their children. I also hear that as a whole there is not much faith in the beuracrats who are running the world. We can only se...

I find it easier to tie with barbless too. Not so much now, but when I first started I would often catch my thread on the last bit of the barb. I don't think the barb really keeps fish on either. The fish at Amber and Medical seem to be in the air more than they are in the water during the fight, I ...
