Re: Salmon and Steelhead Fish Pictures
Your not required to keep the first two fish you hook in the samish. It was like that last year but they changed it. Hope this helps.

Checking In
Hey everyone. Sounds like people are having a pretty good June 1st opener in Washington. In case some of you missed me on the river it's because I took a job in Alaska for the summer. I'm working as a deckhand for Kain's Fishing Adventures in Sitka. I've got some pretty good pictures from the last f...

Re: Corkies for springers
I would use the cleos in 2/5 oz size. Get a 50/50 and an all gold. Gold is a good color.

Re: 2012 Favorites/Memories
If your able to mark 20 on your card at reiter then you're doing something right. If you really want to break 15lbs the best way is to target rivers that have bigger fish. Reiter, Cascade, and other hatchery rivers are good places to catch fish, but don't produce that many 15+ fish. I've caught abou...

Re: 2012 Favorites/Memories
I don't have the pics off of the camera but over spring break fishing with Rich Underwood and my dad on the Quinault was awesome, especially with my first spoon caught Steelhead! The following day FF and I slayed on the Nooch. Never forget that weekend. The next one is my roommate Evan with the bigg...

Re: hardware: casting or spinning
The berkely airs are beastly rods. You can seriously beat the S*** out of them and they still maintain. Ask FF about his medium heavy air it has undergone 2 seasons of serious abuse on the samish. The SST's are good as well. Dont forget the classic blue lamiglas I don't know exactly what the model i...

Re: hardware: casting or spinning
I have a spinning rod I use for jigs and hardware (spoons and spinners) and I use my baitcaster for my bobber dogging setup with bait. bring both rods to the river. If the river is small or hard to cast in Ill use my spinner for bait as well.

Re: New Member and Skook Advice Purty please!
Why not fish it when its high??? The fish can't go anywhere they will just go into calm water. Target it with huge clumps of eggs and shrimp. Might be able to get some hook ups with no one else around. Not saying for sure fish, but it might work.

Re: Eggs ?
YESSS! use eggs and shrimp all freaking day at the skook! That's all me and ff use when we go. Bobber dog eggs and shrimp. You may need to use longer 3 to 4ft leaders in the really slow holes or short float in the slow corner hole to keep your bait off the bottom.

Re: Steelhead Reports and Pics 2012-2013
Well it's back to montana for me. I caught 11 steelhead over spring break and only fished 4 days! Finished it off with this native BEAST of a hen from the Vedder. was easily 16 lbs and could have been close to 17! A new personal best for me!

Re: Eggs ?
I agree 100% with FF. Boraxed eggs are really easy to cure and they work really well! Something to keep in mind though is that if you catch a hen steeely or salmon, make sure to bleed it immediately. cut its kills on both sides as soon as you bonk it.This ensures there isn't any blood in the eggs. Cool story! When I was fishing skookumchuck over winter break me and danny walked up on a large herd just hanging out in the field, definitely sweet! As for the fishing thats awesome minus the breaking off. You could go 12# or 15# in the future, might make a difference.

Yup! garden hackles and rapalas. I lost a brown on the rapala that felt HUGE. Fought him for a couple minutes before he came of right next to the bank. All I saw was a brown flash.
