Re: Green/Duwamish Netting?
At 112th enter from Old HWY 99 side of the river and park. Fewer issues wth vandalizium and break ins than the Park/walking trail parking lot on the freeway side.

Re: float tube in the salt water
If you are anywhere south of the Narrows Bridge (Chambers Creek) you might want to go to one of the parks or out looks where you can see the water under and on either side of the bridge. Go during a tide change! It might change your mind about doing the float tube. The water flows like a river compl...

Re: Green/Duwamish Netting?
In past years they have netted up to 112th. A couple years ago I saw a net up near I405 but I read that it was an illegal set and the WDFW was watching it to try and make a bust. The area from the power station to the Boeing bridge (the old turning basin) will be a maze of nets coming off each shore...

Re: Carbon River on the 1st
If you have not been since 2004 or 05 be aware that Orting has decided to make some money off of us. Virtually all parking that accesses the river requires an Orting parking pass. The signs tell you where to get the pass. The sporting goods store in town use to be one place. Good luck.

Re: hard to pull 2 piece rods apart
My grandpa insisted that every pole get a good nose rub before putting together. Sixty years later I'm still doing it and have only had one rod that wouldn't come apart. I really think that one was my fault I was in a hurry I think I jammed it in too far. Leason learned.

Re: Westport Boat Size
Think long and hard before you cross westport bar or any bar for that matter in a 16 ft boat. It's all about timing and weather. What are you going to do if you get out ok then the weather and or ocean blows up unexpectedly on you or something goes wrong on your boat and the bar is too rough for you...

Re: king/snoho/skagit safe to eat lakes?
The reality is, the occasional fish that you eat out of any lake in Washington State most likely will have no more impact on your health than breathing the air in Seattle. Even the high mountain alpine lakes have detectable levels of mercury delivered by way of air pollution. Short of growing our fo...

Re: Blue Angels by boat - tips wanted
We have been going out every year since 2003 (on Friday). We launch by Rainier Beach Highscool. Parking is a problem, usually 3-4 blocks away on residential streets. Make the short run up to the north end of Seward Park (there will be a buoy line that you can not pass until after the Blue Angels fly...

We start with boiling salted water. Drop the crabs in. Bring back to boiling. Then boil/cook for 20 minutes. Drop in ice water to stop the cooking.

Re: float tube in the salt water
A few years back when Elliott Bay was open for kings there was a guy that float tubed down the east channel into the bay and fished amongst the flotilla of fishing boats, tugs, freighters and barges. I always thought he was a little bit crazy. But I never read in the paper that he didn't make it hom...

I agree 100% Gfakkema!! It was far better back then. My family has been fishing the point since the early 1930's. My Mother, Grandmother and Grandfather all are in pictures on the walls of the Point Defiance bait shop holding fish 30+ pounds. My Grandfather and his fishing partener are both listed o...

Re: mooching setup?
Back in the early to mid 60's as a kid we used to fish off the dock at Point Defiance Boat House. We would use a couple of split shot a chain swivel and two #2 hooks. For bait we used a filet of herring. We would cast out and let 100 - 150 feet of line out and let it drift in the current. The tidal ...
