Re: Chinook fishing closes Monday in area 9 & 10

The thing with this closure is they are preventing us from catching the fish that we pay for. If protecting the wild fish is the key reason for the closure then maybe enhance the selective fisheries requirement to include; knotless nets or maybe even single barbless hooks and reducing the limit to ...

Re: October Saltwater fishing and Guides in Everett / Anacor

Coho in the Sound thru mid October - although at that time they aren't snappy biters... All Star Fishing Charters, Tyee Charters, All Rivers & Saltwater Charters, and Island Guide Service are three that I've heard great recommendations for... Could also consider doing the river gig - that time of th...

Re: Shopping For A Bait Caster Reel

Im working on the 70 for the reel,Im only 14 so money is an issue for me, i love fishing and have much expierence and take good...

Re: Escape Hatch on Square Crab Traps

Can you post a picture/link to a picture of a similar trap? Your explanation has me confused.. What is this "door" on the top of the pot? If I were you, I would go buy the cheap Danielson collapsible square pots. Zip tie a piece of rebar or brick for weight and your set. Cheapest pot but it fishes t...

Any spoon or spinner that is common for trout would work. I used to pitch 1/4 oz Kastmasters for them and did just fine.... +/- 1 hour of a high tide change was the peak time where I fished...

Re: General spots for saltwater fishing?

I'm curious as to why you'd rather fish from shore? There is much better fishing to be had via boat on the sound than off the shore... Most of the piers and shore fishing spots get pretty hammered so there aren't really a lot of fish taken from the salt on the piers. Edmonds Pier (since you are loca...

Re: whose ready for sockeye!

Then, Baker Lake will get fish from the Skagit, good luck catching them in the river. We'll be fishing the lake starting in Late July into the first couple weeks of August. Absolutely yes, I'm ready and have a bunch of Baker lake specials all ready to go. It's a fun fishery and lots of sunny weathe...

Re: BBQ Grill recommendations

Hey thanks ya all. A9, I was hoping you would chime in the Green Egg. I remembered you had one. It does a great job and I can't complain, lots of things to tinker with for those that like experimenting..... My smoked fish comes out great and everyone can't believe that it also smokes fish so well.....

Re: BBQ Grill recommendations

Another vote for the Green Egg: It'll get as hot as you want it, but also works great for smoking purposes... It doesn't have the largest grilling surface so go with the biggest model you can afford. Tri tip done slow, steaks, smoked salmon, etc., all comes out fantastic... I smoke all of my fish on...

Re: Manual Downrigger survey

Penn Manuals are bulletproof. Scotty's aren't bad, there's certainly nothing wrong with them. There are a lot of Scotty parts and accessories available, which are nice, but there isn't much to a manual downrigger for it to wrong. Another reason I like the Penn manuals is that they have a vertical in...

Why not set up and east side meet as well?

I would much rather have it be an event than an online gig... I'd rather not have to pay to mail anything, especially things like rods.....

Re: Gear Swap Meet

Not to be a downer but it'd be nice to keep it simple so no one has to pay to rent out a space... Why not meet at a park or boat launch? All we would need would be a few picnic tables, heck, probably could make it work in the parking lot out of everyones cars.... That way we don't have to worry abou...

Re: Gear Swap Meet

If this gets some interest I would be in. I have plenty of gear that I wouldn't mind swapping and it would be cool to meet everyone...

Maybe early spring time (March- ish?) so everyone can use their newly acquired gear this spring and summer??
