Spinning For Kokanee Salmon

This rig is THE MOST PRODUCTIVE RIG that I use for Kokes, it will work under all circumstances. To start you will need the following: 3 or 4/0 dodgers (I use 3), chenille, size 6 treble hooks, Wedding Ring Spinner or homemade replica, and 6-8 pound test line. The chenille is NOT necessary but a substitute will have to be made otherwise! Tie the chenille onto the hooks shaft leaving the tips exposed, as shown in the picture. To do this I use my fly tying kit but it might be able to be done otherwise. Now clip the pre-tied hook from the spinner and tie on the new one. This should help the fish see the hook and provide a better hooking on the fish. Now tie the
spinner to the dodger with about 12-16 inches of leader. Now you're set to fish it. When baiting place 2 or 3 kernels of white shoe peg corn (must be white yellow DOES NOT WORK) on each hook, maggots may also be mixed with the corn if desired. I usually hook this on a downrigger for controlled depth fishing, but lead core line will do. This can be trolled at most any "trolling" speed. I usually set it at 20-35 feet to start and adjust as we catch fish.
This and much more kokanee info can be found at my website.
