Here we are at the half year point and we are finally getting some nice, consistent weather! It seems like this spring was one of those never-ending ones as we slowly transitioned into summer. But summer is now in the air and we have some fun activities being planned by members of WL.com.
First, mark your calendars for July 19th, when we will have our second WL.com Fishing/BBQ event. I’m excited about this one – mainly because I wasn’t able to go to last year’s! We will be meeting at a Westside lake (to be determined – watch the Forum) and fish the morning, then have a lunch time BBQ. It’ll be a great chance for you to meet fellow WL.comers , fish, enjoy some fun activities, and eat great BBQ. I know with gas prices the way they are we won’t get too many eastside members and that’s too bad. Perhaps we’ll have a few members step up to organize an eastside BBQ?
June 28th we have a Westside cleanup date planned for several lakes in the King county area, followed by a BBQ. Thanks to the members organizing this event – Kutthroatkilla in particular has been instrumental in setting this event up. I love seeing the dedication to our lakes that WL.com members have! This should be an annual event as well, I hope. We have other areas in the state that are in need of clean-ups, so if you’re a member and you want to organize a clean-up get on the Forum and make it happen! Watching members begin to step up and be pro-active in caring for our lake and fishing resources is great to see.
On to web site updates…
Our anticipated June launch of the new site is being postponed. Bummer, I know. There’s just too much work left to do and Aaron and I want to get this new site right the first time, with a minimum of bugs. Rest assured, it will happen. Our timeline now looks to be sometime in the fall. We’ll keep members updated as we get closer to beta testing. Meantime, we appreciate your use of the “hotspots” feature on the report form. When the new site launches there will be a good number of hotspots waiting for everyone.
Have a great summer and “Fish On”!
