Clark County’s Lake River is located just west of the town of Ridgefield. It is 12 miles long, has mostly shallow depths and lies at an elevation of just 9 feet. Fish species include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, black crappie, bluegill, sea-run cutthroat and a few Chinook and Coho salmon. It also probably contains several other species as well -- it is connected to the Columbia River.
Prime bass habitat in this “lake/river” includes overhanging brush and trees, lots of old logs in the water, some rock rip-rap and some old pilings. The water level is affected by the tides.
Public access for trailered boats is through Ridgefield City Marina. There is lots of parking space for tow rigs and trailers, 2 very good concrete boat-launching ramps with a dock. When I last fished it (1996) the launch fee was #2.00. Food and gas are available in Ridgefield and camping is available at nearby Paradise Point State Park.
