Also referred to as THOMPSON RESERVOIR, this shallow reservoir normally covers more than 2000 acres, but in low water years may be much smaller. Has offerred good fishing for good-sized
rainbow and cutthroat trout, but now the fishery consists primarily of rainbow trout and largemouth bass. There seems to be good numbers of bass in the three to four pound class, but the number of predatory birds present almost certainly limits the survival of small bass and trout. Striped bass-white bass hybrids (wipers) were planted in the past, but virtually none of them ever ended up being caught by sportsmen and the plants have been discontinued. The reservoir is open all year and in some years offers icefishing for trout. The reservoir, which lies about 14 miles south of the community of Silver Lake and can be reached by several roads heading south from Highway 31.
